Welcome, Darius Traves
Dear Friends,
This month we are delighted to welcome our new curate (minister in training) Darius Traves to our churches. Here he introduces himself.
I'm Revd Darius. I am part of the Chaplaincy team at York St John and I’m going to be serving part of my curacy at Osbaldwick with Murton, which is going to be my joy and delight.
I was born in Colchester, Essex (please forgive me) but due to being part of a military family, I grew up all over the country. I have a condition called cerebral palsy, but this hasn’t stopped me at all. In my free time, I like walking, bowling, going to the cinema, music, and going to my local pub – and I’m a self-confessed chocoholic.
However, the thing that I love doing in my free time is being a volunteer drama support assistant for two theatre groups. One of the groups is for adults with learning disabilities. This is one of my passions, I am a big advocate for trying to make communities more aware of disabilities.
I live in Pocklington with my cat, Simba, alongside a fantastic team of personal assistants, who you will meet over the next couple of months, I’m sure. I studied Theology at St Hild College in Mirfield and was ordained Deacon in June 2022. My real passion is supporting people from all walks of life, and I look forward to walking alongside you.
Peace
